Azul Sordo is a video producer for the Dallas Morning News. Recently, she produced a video series for Standard of Fear, an investigative series examining the effects of the state’s abortion laws. Before the news, Azul interned at U.S. News and World Report, Texas Tribune and KERA. She started her career primarily as a photographer, but found her passion in short-form and documentary filmmaking. 

Originally from Guadalajara, Mexico, much of her work is informed by her experience as a first-generation immigrant. Azul grew up in Texas all of her life, and has lived in El Paso, Fort Worth, Dallas and Austin. Her stories often highlight the diversity of cultures, politics and identities in Texas, and she is always seeking to learn more about her home state.
