CULTURE WITHOUT BORDERS
BANDAN KORO

West African traditions are rooted in family. The heavy beating of the dundunba (father drum) and the sangba (mother drum) carry the light pattering of the kenkeni (baby drum) as it weaves between the two— together, they are a Dunun. Their rhythm is a language all of its own, spoken fervidly and always in celebration of a vibrant culture.

Under the command of Ande Jones, the Dunun acts as the heartbeat of the ensemble. A familiar beat, or "break", cues the dancers.

Bandan Koro, a West African drum and dance ensemble, gives these traditions a home in Dallas, TX.
